403 Stainless Steel Plate is a martensitic stainless steel that is corrosion and heat resistant. Stainless steels in the 403 series are heat resistant with a scaling temperature of about 1300°F. This alloy has a wide range of mechanical properties that can be obtained with proper heat treatment. It is easily hardened by oil, fan or air cooling and can be tempered at temperatures up to 1350°F (732°C) to improve fracture toughness. Thicker sections require oil or fan cooling.
